I am an Oil Painter living in Upstate New York, the Finger Lakes Region.
Up until about 2005 I was working as a Graphic Designer, with over three decades of experience in Offset and Screen Printing, and Dinnerware Design.
I learned to draw and paint when I was a teenager from my Father, Walter Kozier who studied at the Maryland Institute in Baltimore. As for most people, raising a family comes first and it had been a very long time before I came to paint again. I believe over the years of working with my father I have had an education that few people have the opportunity to experience. As a critic, mentor and fellow painter my father's teachings have meant the world to me and my art.
I enjoy oil painting, mostly still life and an occasional floral or landscape. I prefer to work from life, but due to the life span of certain subject matter I find backing up with a photograph is almost essential for me. Most of my paintings are small in size so I try to incorporate something memorable whether it be the subject itself or the light that illuminates it.
I also enjoy Gardening and Photography which I use for painting purposes as well.
I became a member of The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. (2011)
